Understanding Menopause

Perimenopause and menopause is a natural process that all women will go through. It normally occurs between the ages of 40 and 51. It is not an illness - view it as the next phase of a woman’s life, that is part of the healthy ageing process. Every woman and her menopause will vary and will be unique to her!

There are many symptoms of menopause and they can feel quite debilitating for women who are going through this phase of their life.

Hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, mood changes, poor concentration, brain fog and headaches are just some of the symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause. Hot flushes and night sweats are the most common symptoms.

Perimenopause and menopause can bring about huge changes, as some women can struggle with the many menopausal symptoms.

Feelings of being overwhelmed, feelings of not being able to cope, increased anxiety… All these changes that are happening within the body can bring about low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy for many women. Some women may choose to take medication, such as HRT, and others may look for a more holistic approach such as reflexology.
