What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive complementary therapy based on the discovery that there are reflex points on the feet which correspond to specific organs, glands and systems of the body.

Gentle pressure is applied to various parts of the feet using a specific technique with fingers and thumbs to stimulate these reflexes.

Reflexology can often detect areas that the body is out of balance. Tender, sensitive or crunchy sensations on the feet can indicate blockages of energy, and massaging the pressure points is said to help kick-start the self-healing process and allow the energy to flow freely again.

Reflexologists work holistically to treat the body as a whole, mind, body and spirit to induce a state of relaxation, which encourages the body to restore balance and well-being.

Reflexology is widely used in a variety of contexts, as there are many associated benefits.
